Parametric design algorithms are considered contemporary digital technologies characterized by their generative approach to creating innovative designs using their parametric units, which made them one of the most digital technologies related to the field of design. Parametric thought appeared before the modern digital scientific revolution and parametric programming, which prompted many contemporary designers and architects to move towards practicing modern parametric programming and using its capabilities in linking parametric thought with structural thought for two- and three-dimensional design, due to their technical and intellectual compatibility and exploiting the capabilities of parametric method algorithms with its modern digital technologies to reach new and contemporary design solutions. The research aims to identify the impact of parametric design algorithms on the development of two- and three-dimensional design methods, by identifying two- and three-dimensional design in terms of (elements and foundations), as well as parametric design as a digital trend resulting from the development of design thought in the 21st century, and the types of generative algorithms for parametric design and their most important characteristics. The research used the descriptive analytical approach to define the concepts and terms specific to the research context, and the research reached a number of results, including: that designers' proficiency in applying parametric design algorithms contributes to the development of design methods by finding innovative design solutions, and that applying parametric design algorithms may help in finding visual solutions that enrich the field of two- and three-dimensional design and change its form according to good design data.
