Suggested designs for Kidney Transplant Patient’s Medical Gown

Abstract

Medical clothing is a protective equipment prevents the spread of microorganisms, and it is used in surgeries and beyond.One of these surgeries is kidney transplant,a person gets diseases that affect his kidneys,then dialysis,after renal failure, the patient resorts to a kidney transplant.Due to the medical clothing importance,and the increase of kidney transplant surgeries,it can be said it is a health condition that must be paid attention.Thus, improving what facilitates the patients and the medical team the difficulties of the post-operative period.Through specialized medical team interviews, the research problem is summarized in the presence of design problems in the current medical clothes.Given the scarcity of studies on the design of patient’s clothes,this research aimed to determine the needs of the patient and the medical team.Preparing design for the patient's clothes according to his needs and the medical team from the specialists' point of view.The study used the descriptive method. The sample of the study is 10 of the medical team and 10 clothing design's specialists from Saudi's universities.The personal interview with the medical team and the questionnaire with the specialists were used to collect data.The results are the design (4) is functionally appropriate to meet the needs of the medical team and the patient's needs alike,and the designs (1,2) are the least functionally suitable. The study recommended the cooperation between clothing design specialists and the kidney transplantation department in hospitals, urged researchers to increase the scientific studies in the field of designing patients' clothes,Supporting designers to create designs meet patients' needs.
