Abstract

This study is part of a series studies where the needs of women in cycling clothing were identified and used to create proposed designs using the theory of user-centered design (UCD). It aims to measure the extent to which these designs are compatible with the needs of these women. The fourth phase of UCD was completed in which the prototypes were evaluated by the same sample of women who contributed to identifying their needs. Analysis of variance was used to measure the average differences between the designs in both functional and aesthetic aspects and women's preferences separately and combined. The LSD multiple comparisons test was then used to compare the designs in these aspects and preferences. The results indicated that there were differences between the designs, and accordingly, the best four of them (the seventh, fifth, second, and third) were chosen to add some details by referring to the women’s opinions. As a result, the four designs, with their design differences, matched the needs of women with different habits, and thus a bicycle riding uniforms can cover wide segment of the society. The study recommends implementing the proposed designs, evaluating them through practical experience to improving them beside to adopting them by local factories.
