The problem of the research lies in the challenges facing the interior designer of the local commercial shopping centers in light of the development of the concept of sustainable design. in the field of sustainability. The results of the research revealed the lack of basic environmental services in some of the local commercial centers under study, such as the poverty of the facade element that attracts the shopper, and the lack of energy-saving natural lighting through glass, due to the lack of glass spaces used in some of them and the dependence on cement blocks in the walls and facades. In addition to the weakness of the ventilation component, and the lack of use of environmentally friendly and renewable materials. The research recommends designers to find design solutions and rely on sustainable design strategies in commercial centers to save energy through ventilation and natural lighting, relying on renewable energy, saving electricity consumption, and the need to resort to natural materials to achieve the quality and safety of the place.
