Abstract

BIM plays an important and effective role in the field of interior design of administrative buildings, and this research aims to shed light on the theoretical and applied aspects of this technology; to understand the extent to which BIM technology is used in interior design projects, identify the challenges facing companies in its application, and explore the benefits and opportunities it provides to improve the quality of design. The research adopted a comprehensive methodology that includes presenting the theoretical framework of the technology and its importance, in addition to an applied framework through a wave questionnaire for engineering offices and companies to collect all data on the use of the technology and its benefits. The survey results showed that the application of BIM technology contributes to improving performance efficiency, reducing errors and costs, and coordination between the field of interior design and the other application disciplines participating in the project. Nevertheless, the survey revealed some of the challenges facing these companies, such as the high cost of software and the lack of qualified personnel. The study concluded by providing recommendations to enhance the use of BIM technology because of its positive effects at various stages of the project, conducting future studies to assess the impact of BIM technology on other aspects such as sustainability, and testing its criteria.
