The role of collaborative design in developing the design process of interior spaces

The research aims to know the positive benefit in employing collaborative design techniques and the extent of its contribution to the development of the design process as a whole for interior designers and end users alike. It also explains the concept of collaborative design. To achieve the goal, the research was designed on applications specific to collaborative design, and the pre-experimental methodology was followed in traditional ways in embedded design to verify its effectiveness. Quantitative data were collected through two means, which are: the specialized competencies scale, and monitoring professional practice observations. Qualitative data were collected in specific tools, which are open questions in the specialized competencies scale, and the observation log. The special study in the research was applied to a group of interior designers and end users of the interior space in the State of Kuwait, and they were selected using the appropriate sample method. It showed that collaborative design practices contributed to the integration of interior designers in continuous self-reflection and reflections within a group of end users, and it was found that they have a common interest and seek to achieve common goals represented in complete user satisfaction. This participation in design and these discussions and reflections helped develop a deeper understanding of design for end users regarding interior design. And to bring about positive change for interior designers in their specialized knowledge and professional practice.
