Abstract

The world is witnessing rapid advancements in software technologies related to robotics and smart furniture, contributing to the emergence of innovative concepts aimed at improving the quality of life, particularly for the elderly and individuals with special needs. This study seeks to explore the positive impact of software technologies on the development of assistive furniture by providing adaptive solutions and advanced services integrated with robotic systems. These include adaptive furniture, modular assistive robots, self-reconfigurable modular robotic systems (SRMRs), and smart furniture equipped with sensory stimulation technologies that enhance comfort and increase user independence. These advancements facilitate daily activities and help address physical and psychological challenges.

The research examines the practical applications of these innovations and the potential challenges to their adoption, with a focus on the future potential of this promising field in improving care and supporting the independence of older adults. Ensuring that the elderly can live as independently as possible, regardless of their physical or mental conditions, is a domain where new technologies, including assistive devices, integrated environmental applications, and robotics, can make a significant contribution.

When delving into the topic of smart furniture, especially multifunctional types, it is essential to recognize its growing importance in contemporary architecture and design.
